F1 | Red Bull, Max Verstappen: “It's nice to see how the car has evolved”

Max Verstappen enjoying his new car throughout the first day of testing in Bahrain. The two-time world champion completed 157 laps, more than anyone else - it is also true that the other teams alternated drivers on the track - but Verstappen's certainly seemed more like a cruise than a test: the RB19 it's already scary. The Dutchman remained at the top of the standings all day, only getting closer Fernando Alonso, twenty-nine thousandths away from his Aston Martin. While the rest of the grid tries and tries new solutions, Verstappen is already looking at the first race. He will return to the wheel of the RB19 tomorrow only in the afternoon, after having left the honor to Czech Perez.

“It was a good day, we completed enough laps, it was what we wanted and we covered the length of almost three Grands Prix – began the world champion – there weren't many problems, so we managed to concentrate on the car, we did several tests. The performances were satisfactory both during the day, under the sun and at high temperatures, and during the evening, when the conditions were more representative. It's nice to see how the car has evolved since last year. It handles a little differently due to the tyres, but all in all we are happy. It's difficult to say how this car will behave during the season, it's only the first round of testing, but for now it seems to be going well and this is fundamental. I'll get back behind the wheel tomorrow afternoon and try new compounds to collect as much data as possible in view of the first race."
