F1 | Red Bull, Mateschitz: “Verstappen doesn't have many options”

In an interview with Sky.de, Helmut Marko spoke about Max Verstappen's situation, underlining how the Dutch driver's season is not at all lucky. Verstappen, we remember, suffered several retirements during this season, all due to problems related to the Renault power unit. Precisely in this sense, Jos Verstappen expressed some doubts about his son's future in Milton Keynes, explaining that with these continuous problems it is impossible to fight with Ferrari and Mercedes for the championship. Marko's response, obviously, was not long in coming: according to the Austrian, in fact, Red Bull is the best option for Verstappen at the moment, especially considering that the seats of Ferrari and Mercedes are confirmed until 2019.

Here are the words of Max Verstappen: “We are the best team left and at the moment I don't see where we can go. Under these conditions we cannot keep Max as far as the future is concerned, but at the moment we are the best option for him. We have to concentrate and get to work to give him a great car. However, there is nothing to say about the supply: we cannot have a Mercedes or Ferrari power unit, while Honda would not give us any help. We have to improve what we have.".
