F1 | Red Bull, Marko: “Halo is not a mature solution”

Helmut Marko has rejected the introduction of the Halo safety system starting from the 2018 season. According to consultant Dietrich Mateschitz, a solution of this type could even make cockpits even more dangerous in the event of accidents or flames in the car. The teams have carried out very few tests with this device and there are still no clear guidelines in case of danger.

Here are the words of Helmut Marko: “It's not a mature solution. If a driver is injured and needs to be rescued, we don't know what effect the Halo may have during the extraction phase. A car on fire, extreme situations... we have no guidelines. This solution could make cockpits even more dangerous."
