F1 | Red Bull, Marko cautious about the new PU: "The performance is not yet that of 2021"

Helmut Marko is cautious, on the power unit front, in view of the new season characterized by the regulation change. The Red Bull talent scout has in fact admitted that at the moment the power of the 2022 engine is lower than that of last year.

The Austrian, however, underlined how Honda, which will continue to work alongside the Milton Keynes team despite having officially left the world of Formula 1 as a supplier, is continuing to work on this front. We remind you that we will switch from E5 to E10 fuel, resulting in a reduction in performance.

This delay, however, does not affect the Anglo-Austrian team's objective which is to win the title also in the upcoming season.

"The stated objective is title even if you can't be sure not these new rules – declared Marko, interviewed by the German newspaper Auto Motor und Sport – We and Mercedes have potential, resources and continuity. Also because there are no other drivers like Hamilton and Verstappen. Honda is working hard. I have positive feelings, but the performances are not yet those of 2021. We will have to wait to understand how the race set-up will be".
