F1 | Red Bull, Horner returns to the race in Bahrain: "The double retirement was frustrating"

Christian Horner returned to talk about the last Bahrain Grand Prix, the second round of the 2018 Formula One world championship, underlining how the double withdrawal was a bitter pill for the entire team to swallow. The Scuderia from Milton Keynes, in fact, could count on an excellent pace during the race, especially in comparison with Ferrari and Mercedes. Sunday's objective, considering the excellent results on Friday, it was the victory of the race, but a series of negative circumstances did not allow the Anglo-Austrian team to exploit 100% of the potential of the RB14.

Here are the words of Christian Horner: “It went badly, but during the weekend we saw that our pace was absolutely good. Our expectations going into the race were quite high given thatand the long-distance pace was superior to that on the single lap. In the two laps he was able to do, Daniel closed the gap on Kimi and was about to try the attack. Furthermore, Max was keeping an excellent pace and the overtaking on Lewis confirmed the car's potential. It was a brutally frustrating race for us".

“Losing Daniel to a battery problem was a real disappointment. As for Verstappen, however, the contact in Turn 1 ruined his race. He arrived at the braking point with Lewis, but Max found Alonso in his path and had to widen. Unfortunately the contact punctured his tire, forcing him to do a three-wheel ride. The surface contact with the asphalt ruined the gearbox and for this reason we had to take the car back. There was a hydraulic leak which didn't allow us to do much. We leave Bahrain with a lot of positive feedback, but the double retirement was frustrating" he added.
