F1 | Red Bull, Horner: “We hope to be able to fight with the Mercedes”

Christian horner he believes it. In view of an increasingly closer 2017 season, the team manager of Red Bull he is convinced that his drivers will be able to fight with Mercedes for victory.

Thanks to the great results of 2016 and the new rules, next season could bring important satisfactions: “We are working with momentum – said Horner – in 2016 we worked to build this momentum and now we have a feeling of real optimism in the team. We can go further with the engine and with the chassis we will be able to give the guys a good car. We hope to be able to fight with Mercedes."

Red Bull could focus everything on aerodynamics, the real strong point of last season and the nerve center of the new year's innovations. Horner, however, does not want to delude himself, aware of the great strength of his rivals.

“In 2017 we will start from scratch and no one will know where their rivals will be – we read in Corriere dello Sport – we have always adapted well to rule changes but we cannot take anything for granted. Mercedes will still be the favourites, but if we can close the gap and put pressure on them it would be a great thing for everyone."
