F1 | Red Bull, Horner: “It will be a fantastic season!”

The season is finally about to begin, and at Red Bull there are all the conditions for the world championship to reserve some surprises right from the first races. The double round in Austria places the Verstappen & Co. team in a fairly favorable position for the debut, given what has happened in the last two years at Zeltweg. Could Red Bull and the Dutch start as favorites at least in the very first part of the world championship? Only the track can tell us, but team principal Chris Horner is confident, and he believes that this world championship can provide some surprises given its uniqueness.

“It's unusual to sit still for so long, especially for a Formula 1 team – Horner said. During the lockdown there was a lot of work behind the scenes regarding the regulations, it was necessary to find the best solution for the good not only of individuals, but of our entire sports movement: it was necessary to postpone the technical regulations, reduce the spending ceiling and other, and we arrived at compromises: there was collaboration between the teams. There will still be some things to finalize regarding the new 2022 regulations, but most things have been defined."

“It's strange to think that we'll start the season now, when right now we should be more or less halfway through – continued the Red Bull team principal. The driver in us just wants to get back on track: it was great to see the car at Silverstone, we're working hard and we have some goals set, so it will be exciting to start racing again. It will be different, but I believe that when the traffic lights go out, we will focus on our cars and our opponents, the center of the world will be what happens on the track. The key to everything will be reliability: there will be many races close to each other, it will be an intense period! We'll go from zero to a hundred miles an hour in one fell swoop, as we haven't raced since November, we've been out of action for seven months! It's an unusual year, but perhaps it's what we need to face Mercedes, who have dominated in the last six championships. I think this season will be fantastic: sure, the riders will be stretched, but they are professionals and will overcome everything without major difficulties. It will be an intense world championship different from our habits, and this will bring us different pressures and dynamics, we are in a good position, I think it will be our best championship since 2013."
