F1 | Red Bull, Horner: “2017? A challenge we await with trepidation"

Mercedes will still be the team to beat, according to Christian Horner. The current Red Bull Team Principal has expressed his opinion on the hierarchies that will be seen during the next season, underlining how, despite the new regulation and the exponential growth of the Renault engine, the Brackley team will still be the reference for everyone as far as it's about performance on the track. However, Horner explained that Red Bull is working hard on the 2017 project and that he expects a leveling out of performance in the central part of the championship. The aim will be to put pressure on Lewis Hamilton and presumably Valtteri Bottas.

Here are the words of Christian Horner: “The new rules will be an unknown for everyone and the hierarchies on the track will not be known until we take to the track in Melbourne. The tests themselves will also be difficult to evaluate. The new season is an opportunity and a challenge that we await with trepidation. For sure Mercedes will be among the best and they will probably be under pressure at some point, but it will be difficult to overtake them. They are strong. We are confident with the new rules and should balance the relationship between chassis and engines."
