F1 | Red Bull, Gasly: ​​“I'm disappointed, starting on the Softs won't be easy”

Not a great day for Pierre Gasly. The French driver was unable to go beyond ninth position in qualifying, and tomorrow he will start from the fifth row next to Giovinazzi, his rival in 2016 in GP2 for the title fight. The local idol certainly expected something different in front of his audience and starting with the red tyres, practically unusable in Le Castellet in the long run, certainly won't help him.

“It was a complicated qualifying – Gasly admitted. In Free Practice 3 we were more competitive, having set the sixth fastest time, but the changes made to the car after the session didn't help us. I'm disappointed, because we could have done more, but tomorrow we will fight. We start the race on the Softs, so we know it will be difficult but the race pace seems good. We will rely on the strategy and see how to make the tires last as long as possible and recover positions."
