F1 | Red Bull, Gasly: “It's a shame about the final time, but we worked well”

Wednesday in chiaroscuro for Pierre Gasly aboard his Red Bull: on the second day of testing at the Hungaroring, the young French driver did not go beyond tenth place with a time, 1.20.337, more than three seconds away from that of Sebastian Vettel. The positive notes, however, come from the work carried out on the RB13, focused on aerodynamics and tire management, which gave the Austrian team's engineers satisfactory results. Gasly commented on the test day like this: "It's always amazing to be back in a Formula 1 car – began the Frenchman – these opportunities don't come around very often, so it was nice to be back driving this car. Verstappen didn't have a smooth day on Tuesday, so we had a lot of work to do. In terms of riding it wasn't the most exciting day for me, but the program was really important for the team. It was also a useful test to better understand how the tires work. We didn't have time to focus on the final time, but it was more important to focus on what the team needs to learn and in the end we did more than 100 laps, so it was a good day.".

He echoes it Jeff Calam, head of engineers at Red Bull: “It was a very productive day. It's not headline stuff, but we gathered really valuable information for the team. It was nice to have Pierre in the car, as usual his comments were useful to us”.
