Mick Schumacher has not yet renewed with Haas

F1 | Ralf Schumacher: “Drugovich could threaten Mick's seat”

Mick Schumacher's renewal with Haas still hangs in the balance. As usual, the US team took the summer break period to make all its assessments, with Gunther Steiner also recently confirming that the intention of the Ferrari-powered team is to choose the 2023 line-up no longer late September.

After a truly complicated start to the season Mick Schumacher began to find rhythm and above all world championship points (at Silverstone and Austria), reaching and sometimes outperforming his teammate Kevin Magnussen. This had led to thoughts of a downward renewal for the German son of art, while apparently the talks between the parties have cooled down a bit in recent times.

Ralf Schumacher, currently a commentator for German Sky, spoke about his nephew's situation, warning that there are some Formula 2 drivers who are pushing for a seat in Haas, including the current championship leader Felipe Drugovich, born in 2000 and with good sponsors from his part.

“It must be admitted that Mick started the season very badly, but he found his rhythm and improved a lot and at the right time - the words of Ralf Schumacher to motorsport-total.com – Even in Budapest considering the potential of Haas he did an excellent job. The important thing is that you always maximize the package available. I hope he can still improve thanks to the updates on the car. It's important that I keep a good seat in F1. As far as I know, however, there are some F2 drivers pushing to take Schumacher's place at Haas and they also have good sponsors. I'm also talking about Felipe Drugovich; the Brazilian is doing very well in his third year in F2 and is first in the standings."
