F1 | Raikkonen responds ironically to the team order: “Should I move? Tell me clearly” [VIDEO]
The order to the Finn came shortly after Sebastian Vettel's stop
One of the most exciting moments of yesterday's race was certainly the brief battle between Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel for the leadership of the Grand Prix. Thanks to an extremely interesting strategy, with the Finn going into the pits a few laps before the German, Kimi managed to take the top spot in the Grand Prix, strategically overtaking Valtteri Bottas and his teammate's SF71H.
The only doubt regarding this move was the actual stability of the soft compounds: Raikkonen, in fact, had made his stop on the fifteenth lap and this, in the case of a single stop strategy, would have forced him to carry out around fifty laps with the same tires. A risk, if we consider the bliestiring suffered yesterday by almost all the cars. Considering this and having different plans regarding the continuation of the race, Ferrari chose to implement a team order after about four rounds of fighting between the two, inviting the Finn to let the four-time World Champion pass.
A move that Raikkonen accepted willingly, but which he commented on with his usual irony.
