F1 | Raikkonen is not worried about Kubica's return
Kubica: "If I return, I won't do it to make up the numbers"
The Finn admitted that he had no worries whatsoever if he had to share the starting grid with the Polish driver.
After seven years of absence, Robert Kubica could return to the world championship behind the wheel of Williams. In yesterday's tests, scheduled on the track of Abu Dhabi, the Pole completed 100 laps.
A Kimi Raikkonen was asked if, given Kubica's excellent performance, he is worried about seeing him compete again next year:
“Why should I be? I'm sure Robert wouldn't run if he wasn't confident in his abilities. I'm happy for him, it would be great if he could find a place for next year.".
There are various rumors in the paddock regarding Kubica's resistance to driving "only" with one hand. Here is Robert's reply:
“This is nonsense, it's not possible to drive a Formula 1 with just one arm. Obviously I have limitations but I can compensate with the rest of my body and so far, it's going well.".
Furthermore, he reiterated that if he is lined up on the starting grid a Melbourne next year, it will not only be because he managed to convince Williams, but also because he is ready to return to racing.
“A lot of people would like to see me come back for my story but first I have to make sure that if I get the opportunity, I am ready and prepared. If I return, I won't do it to make up the numbers, but to make sure I can give the best of Robert Kubica.".
