F1 | Raikkonen, the relationship with teammate Alonso: "Something strange happened between us"

2021 brought the end to Kimi Raikkonen's career, with the Finn having just hung up his helmet at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The 2007 world champion, recalling the episodes that marked his presence in Formula 1, underlined his relationship with Fernando Alonso.

The two were teammates at Ferrari in 2014, the first season of the turbo-hybrid era in the Circus, where the Ferrari was the protagonist of a difficult season in which all the technical problems of a car emerged whose best results were obtained by Alonso while Kimi struggled to find the feeling with the F14-T.

"I think he's always been very good. As a teammate, I'm pretty sure something strange happened, like between us – said Raikkonen, interviewed by the official F1 podcast Beyond the Grid –For various reasons I didn't have a good year. I didn't do well, while he was fast every weekend. I was never able to choose my teammate, it could have been anyone. I think it's good you can push each other, it's good".

In 2021 Raikkonen and Alonso were the protagonists of battles on the track, even at times extreme, but the Iceman himself underlined how the current Alpine driver is very correct: “We ended up racing against each other. We're both at different points in our careers than we were back then. When you race against him you know what may or may not happen. You know what to expect. You can trust Alonso, he is loyal".
