F1 | Racing Point, Stroll: “Graining could be a factor in the race”

Positive day for Racing Point, which placed Stroll and Perez in eleventh and twelfth position respectively in Mexico City. The Canadian crashed at the entrance to Peraltada during Free Practice 1, causing a red flag, but still managed to return to the pits and get back on track shortly after, while Perez found the right feeling with his car only in the afternoon, and he is particularly optimistic about the rest of his weekend at home.

"Has it been a good day - Stroll admitted. In the first session I was looking for the limits of the track and I found (and exceeded) them. I thought I would stay in that barrier, but I managed to get the car back and go back to the pits. Congratulations to the team for resolving everything so quickly, because at the end of FP1 we managed to get back on track again. I feel positive and I think we can be competitive this weekend. Tire management will be very important and graining could be a factor in the race, opening up different scenarios on Sunday regarding strategies."

“The first session wasn't easy for me, we had some small problems, but things improved in the afternoon – Checo said. I think there will be a lot to do to find a few tenths tonight, and all the teams in the center of the grid are very close, so the times will be tight. In the long runs we seemed competitive, trying all the tire compounds. I think we are in good shape, we have enough data to make the right decisions."
