F1 | Racing Point, Sergio Perez: “We must be ready for anything, even surprises”

The fog and incessant rain kept the cars of all the teams inside their respective garages, waiting interminably for a green light: nothing to be done. Both of the usual Friday free practice sessions have been cancelled, so tomorrow the teams will (hopefully) take to the track, for the first time in years, on the Nurburgring circuit, without any experience. A challenge that could be really interesting, and the Racing Point drivers seem to be convinced of it.

"I feel sorry for the fans here at the Nurburgring and those who follow us from home – began Checo Perez – it's always a risk to take in this part of the year here at the Nurburgring, so I hope everything goes as it should for the rest of the weekend, to try and entertain the fans as best as possible. Today's downpour makes the weekend interesting, because none of the teams have data from the first free practice sessions. We must be ready, learn quickly, and maybe there will be surprising results".

Lance Stroll was also disappointed for the fans, and despite the lack of action on the track, the Canadian remains focused on the goal.

“It was great to see the fans in the stands again, but I'm disappointed for them as they didn't get to see any action on the track. All the teams haven't raced on this circuit for a long time, so there is no data to rely on, the pressure for tomorrow increases, given that FP3 will be the only free practice before qualifying. The weather will be crucial tomorrow too. Free practice could start with a damp track, to become dry in qualifying, we will have to react quickly and learn as much as possible in view of the race."
