F1 | Racing Point, Sergio Perez: “Really complicated conditions”

Sergio Perez believes it: despite the results of the first two free practice sessions, the Mexican is convinced that Racing Point will be able to compete in the mid-table group. Perez placed in twelfth position in FP1, while in the second session he recovered just one position. Despite being outside the top 10, Sergio is convinced that strategy will be a key factor for qualifying; the new asphalt, in fact, makes life difficult for practically all the teams and it seems that the situation is not destined to improve much until Sunday.

"The conditions on the track were really complicated, and not only due to the low temperatures, but above all due to the lack of grip – explained Perez – during the walking lap on the track on Thursday, it felt like walking on marble, similar to the kitchen countertop at home! It's really slippery, and I think it will be that way all weekend. It's a shame not to be able to push hard on a circuit like Istanbul Park, it's really beautiful and full of challenges, but I'm sure we'll still have an exciting weekend, there will be good opportunities for us. From what I saw today, the strategy will be fundamental, if we get it right we will have a big advantage. We learned a lot today, I'm confident, it's the right direction. The mid-table battle will be tough, but I think we can easily be in front tomorrow".
