F1 | Racing Point, Perez: “We are focused on Sunday's race”

Sergio Perez took seventh position at the end of the first day of free practice at the Yas Island Circuit in Abu Dhabi, the last round of the 2020 Formula 1 world championship. The winner of the Sakhir GP confirms his and his car's excellent form, but for him the weekend is already uphill, given that he will be forced to start from the back of the grid due to the replacement of various elements of his power unit.

“I am very happy with the balance of the car and the progress made today – Perez said. It's a shame to start from the back, because I'm convinced we could have achieved a good result without penalties. That's how it went, so today we focused on the race pace: a lot was done to understand how the race should go and how the tires will behave. In PL2 we had more indications, given that the conditions will be the same as in qualifying and the race, and more or less we know what awaits us. There is a lot at stake this weekend, such as third position in the constructors' championship, but we can go into qualifying without too much pressure and concentrate on the race. The goal is to score as many points as possible and see how high we can finish on Sunday."
