F1 | Racing Point, Perez thinks about qualifying: "A couple of tenths will make the difference"
“The car looks competitive,” Stroll said
Satisfaction at Racing Point after free practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. At Yas Island Perez ranked eighth, while Stroll was only thirteenth, but he is still optimistic given the race pace shown during the second session. According to the Mexican, however, only a couple of tenths will make the difference in qualifying, which could determine whether or not he gets into the top ten and therefore into Q3.
“It was a good day and we were competitive in FP2 – Perez admitted. The evening session is the most representative here, I'm optimistic. Tomorrow the battle to be first in the middle of the group will be very close, and I think that one or two tenths will make the difference whether or not we get into Q3. If we can put everything together and find some rhythm, we can get a good result in qualifying. Our race pace also seemed good, we hope to continue like this until Sunday."
“The car seems quite competitive, but we don't know what kind of work the others did today – Stroll said. We'll have a couple of things to analyze tonight, but our pace in the second session gives us confidence for the rest of the weekend. The balance is good, so we need to optimize our package tomorrow. Every weekend is important, but we definitely want to finish the season on a high."
