F1 | Racing Point, Perez praises COTA: "It's one of the best tracks of the modern era"

After the feast of emotions experienced in Mexico, Racing Point is preparing to face the United States Grand Prix, a sort of second home for the two drivers. Perez took seventh place at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, completing a super race in front of his home crowd, and given the large presence of Mexicans usually in Texas, he will want to repeat this result. As for Stroll, the Canadian driver will want to reverse the trend in this last part of a very difficult season so far, especially in comparison with his teammate.

“Austin is a great place to run – Stroll said. It's a city full of excitement and it's great to be in Texas! Many fans come to watch the race, so there is always a great atmosphere, while away from the track I sometimes like to listen to some live music, I also try to use my free time for a nice barbecue. The circuit is very technical, with several high and low speed corners, which makes it difficult to find a good set up. I prefer the first sector: turn one is uphill and blind, and the car stops which is a wonder given the slope. From there, the sequence of corners is really amazing: the speed we reach during qualifying is incredible, it's a lot of fun. It's difficult to follow other cars on this track, but there are lots of overtaking opportunities, it's very wide in Turn 1, so you can brake later and get inside. The opposite straight is very long, and if you have a good exit from the hairpin, you can overtake the car in front."

“I'm still thrilled about the Mexico race – Perez admitted. Finishing immediately behind the top was the best we could achieve, we showed our strengths as a team and the progress we are making with this car, despite being at the end of the year. I feel we can score points in the remaining races between here and Abu Dhabi. Austin is like a second home race for me, there are always a lot of Mexican fans, and it's strange to have it after Mexico, because usually the opposite happens. I love having these two weeks next to each other, they are important moments for the season and a lot of fun. The flags of my country in the stands give a great boost."

Checo focuses on the characteristics of the circuit“It's interesting for the drivers to tackle, because there are many types of corners: it's definitely a challenging track, especially the first sector, I like it for the presence of high-speed corners. You can brake late into Turn 1 due to the gradient, but it's easy to lose your rope. It can also be approached in different ways as the roadway is very wide. There are parts of the circuit that remind me of others: the first sector for example is similar to the "Snake" of Suzuka! It's a fun track, I enjoy driving on it and it's definitely one of the best of the modern era."
