F1 | Racing Point, another good race from Perez: "Great pace, it's important to score points"

Another positive race for Sergio Perez, who scored a point in Austin after starting from the pit lane for not going to the weigh-ins at the end of FP2, and so the FIA punished him severely. The Mexican was thus able to fit a brand new power unit and set up the car as best as possible for the race, managing to gain tenth position despite the final contact with Kvyat, who was penalized for his impetuosity (as in Mexico seven days does). A race to forget for Stroll, however, only thirteenth at the finish line and once again behind his teammate.

“We played an extraordinary race and managed to recover well as a team – Perez said. The one-stop strategy was very aggressive, and our pace was good all afternoon. On the last lap Kvyat crashed into me, damaging my front wing, but he was penalized and we managed to complete the race in tenth place. One point means we move up to sixth place in the constructors' standings, and that's important with two races to go. Today it's just a point, but it will count a lot at the end of the season."

“It was a long afternoon and I've certainly had better days – Stroll admitted. It was a shame, because the car was going well and we know that we can fight for the top ten, but unfortunately things didn't go our way. I didn't have a good start, I was crushed by other cars and I suffered some damage. The track was very bumpy on the outside of turn 2 and I went off line. Given our position on the track, the team decided to pull the data and we made a two-stop strategy: we had a good pace in the second stint, but by the end of the race the tires were worn. It's a shame, but days like these happen, we'll go back to fighting in Brazil."
