F1 | #Race1000, Vettel: “I would have liked to drive the single-seaters of the early 90s”

With the Chinese Grand Prix, held today on the Shanghai track, Formula One celebrated the historic milestone of 1.000 races. Interviewed on the topic by the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, Sebastian Vettel he expressed his opinion on the most beautiful era that he would have liked to experience firsthand as a pilot.

"The beginning of the 90s – Seb admitted -. The engineers worked on the greater aerodynamic load of the single-seater and this made the cars very fast. At the same time they were still very secretive about technology. I really like this mix. Unfortunately, I didn't drive during those years. If I could, I would have loved to do it. (...) In Formula One, as in other sports, there is always the same challenge. Formula One has evolved in its nature, now there is too much show but it continues to fascinate me and I think it does for children too".

The four-time world champion, on the incidence and the car/driver power ratio, declared: “Most of the successes were certainly achieved by the best driver, simply because he was driving the most competitive single-seater".

Speaking about his future in motorsport he said: “I have a contract with Ferrari until the end of 2020. Formula E or touring cars are something I would rule out at the moment".
