F1 | Prost skeptical about improving overtaking
"Maybe it would have been better to wait until 2021"
The four-time world champion expressed doubts about the new aerodynamic changes to facilitate overtaking this season.
In the paddock there are various opinions but Alain Prost, consultant Renault, commented:
"It was a change in regulations that cost us a lot of money ahead of another major regulation change for 2021, the details of which are not yet known. Perhaps it would have been better to wait until 2021 and radically change much more".
Based on winter testing, some drivers stated that the new front wings, in particular, made it easier to follow a rival car. Prost said:
“In testing you don't necessarily follow another car often, so we can't say yet whether it will be easier to follow and overtake, but there is a small tendency to say that is positive. I hope that will be the case, but I'm not completely convinced that it will be overnight. However, we won't see anything different in Melbourne, because it is a circuit where it is always difficult to overtake.".
