F1 | President Rio de Janeiro: “We will be 99 percent there”
Sao Paulo replies: "It is not economically feasible"
di Jessica Cortellazzi25 June, 2019
Yesterday, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro had a meeting with F1 CEO Chase Casrey in Brasilia.
“We will not lose Formula 1 -he declared to Globo- the contract with Sao Paulo will expire next year and it was decided to go to Rio de Janeiro. Either it will be like this or otherwise it will be the end for Brazil in Formula 1. The possibility of having the race in Rio de Janeiro is now 99 percent."
The governor of Sao Paulo, Joao Doria, counters:
“We will not give up, we respect Rio de Janeiro but economically it is not feasible. I also assume that there will be a reaction from the drivers, who know that Interlagos is one of the five best circuits in the world."
