F1 | Portimao ever closer to Formula 1: "The teams have already given the OK"

Portimao is ever closer to becoming part of the 2020 Formula 1 calendar. In an interview granted to motorsport.com, a spokesperson for the circuit told some anecdotes linked to the negotiation with Liberty Medium and FIA, revealing how the teams have already given their approval to the trip to the trackAlgarve.

The Portuguese track, we remember, could enter the calendar immediately after the probable double trip to Italy (Monza e Mugello), with two events scheduled for September 27th and October 4th. A round of "hedging" useful for Liberty Media to cover the holes left free by Singapore, Suzuka and Azerbaijan.

“We are in continuous contact with the FOM and the negotiation is quite concrete”, a circuit spokesperson said. “The possibility of hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix in Portimao is there. For the moment there is nothing confirmed, but we know that the teams have already given their availability and we are working hard to make this happen."
