F1 | Pirelli, Tronchetti Provera: “We remain in Formula 1 but at current costs”

Marco Tronchetti Provera, CEO of Pirelli, on the occasion of the shareholders' meeting of Pirelli & CSpA (which approved the results of the 2017 financial statements yesterday) spoke about the ffuture of the company regarding its relationship with Formula 1, for which it has been the sole supplier of tires since 2011.

An agreement renewed until 2019 two years ago which has confirmed the excellent work carried out by the Italian company in the Circus races so far, even if for the future the conditions set by Pirelli are clear: costs equal to the current ones. As Tronchetti Provera declared in response to his members: "We will gladly remain in Formula 1 if the economic conditions remain these."

The CEO of Pirelli also added that “if the costs become excessive we already have many other races that we are passionate about and many others in which we can continue to race all over the world." Finally, an opinion on the work carried out to date: "Our performance has been exceptional, thanks also to the work of our technicians, whose skills are recognized by the pilots themselves. We work first of all on safety and then obviously on performance: these are our two drivers".
