F1 | Pirelli: the compounds for the Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australian GPs

The Italian manufacturer has published the compounds chosen for the first three Grands Prix of the season: Bahrain (5 March), Saudi Arabia (19 March) and Australia (2 April).

For this season, Pirelli has added a compound (among the hardest) for a total of six available.

Pirelli compounds 2023

Let's know the Pirelli compounds in detail:

C0
It is the 1 C2022. It is the hardest compound in the range and is chosen for circuits that require greater loads on the tyres. It has been designed to offer maximum resistance to heat and extreme forces, and is capable of withstanding very long stints while still affecting high performance.

C1
This new compound, introduced in 2023, is positioned between the C1 and C2 of past seasons. The C1 was created to reduce the performance gap between what were previously the two hardest compounds in the range.

C2
Suitable for faster circuits, with high temperatures and abrasive asphalt. These harder compounds are sometimes also nominated for new circuits, as a conservative choice so as to verify the actual load to which the tires are subjected in real racing conditions.

C3
It is quite a versatile compound and can therefore sometimes be adopted as the hardest, medium or softest choice of the three selected. Thanks to an excellent balance between performance and versatility, this compound adapts to various situations.

C4
Ideal for circuits where a fairly fast warm-up is required to immediately reach maximum performance. This is another compound that is used extensively throughout the season.

C5
Softest compound in the Pirelli range, designed for slower circuits with low levels of wear and degradation where maximum mechanical grip of the tire is required. An example of this is city circuits but also those where the asphalt is particularly smooth.
