At the end of the first two free practice sessions valid for the Austrian Grand Prix, the eighth round of this 2019 Formula 1 world championship, Mario Isola promoted the behavior of the Pirelli tires in Spielberg, underlining how the compounds managed to perfectly manage the very high temperatures present in Austria.

Despite the 55 degrees on the asphalt, in fact, the soft appeared to be a fairly valid compound from a race perspective, an aspect that could change the strategies for what concerns Sunday's race.

The objective, obviously, will be to make just one stop, so as to reduce the time in the pin lane as much as possible, but be careful of possible surprises, especially if temperatures rise today.

“Today the asphalt temperature was among the highest ever recorded in F1, with a maximum of 55°, and similar weather conditions are expected throughout the weekend,” said Mario Isola. “Despite the scorching heat, the tire performance was very good.”

“It was quite a difficult day for the riders, with the wind changing direction frequently in FP2, in addition to several red flag interruptions in both sessions,” he continued. “On such a demanding track, with the gaps between riders reduced to a minimum, every single improvement in terms of set-up and strategy is decisive.”

“Tomorrow in FP3 the Teams will try to make up for the time lost today, before tackling a qualifying that promises to be extremely close,” he concluded.
