F1 | Pirelli, compound colors for the 2019 season confirmed
The range will be reduced to white, yellow and red colors
The 2019 P Zero range will consist of just three colours, the same for all the grand prix. White, yellow and red are the three colors that will correspond respectively to the hard, medium and soft tyres.
There will, however, be more than three compounds. White Hard, Yellow medium and Red soft, in fact, will be the constant colors at all the Grands Prix, but with diversified compounds depending on the characteristics of each circuit.
The soft for Monte Carlo, for example, will necessarily be softer than the soft for Silverstone or Suzuka. Further details on the available compounds, from soft to hard, will be made known after the FIA homologation scheduled for December.
In 2019, Pirelli will communicate before each grand prix the corresponding hard, medium and soft compounds nominated for that specific race. The new system will allow fans to identify the type of compound used more easily, allowing them to immediately have more information on the range. The intermediate (green) and extreme wet (blue) Cinturatos will have the same colors as 2018.
Mario Isola, Car Racing manager: “We have spoken at length about this topic with the Teams, FIA and Formula 1. The idea behind this change is to make the tires more easily recognisable, even on television, whilst clearly indicating which specific compounds will be used at each competition"
