F1, Pirelli: number of overtakings dropped in 2015

According to data collected by Pirelli, in 2015 the number of overtaking suffered a 20% drop compared to the previous year. In the 19 races held, 509 overtakings were made, with the Malaysian Grand Prix recording the highest number of overtakings in the entire championship (60).

In 2014 there were a total of 636 overtakings, carried out as in 2015 over 19 events. Going back to 2015, the driver who outpaced most rivals on the track was Toro Rosso rookie Max Verstappen. Among the 49 overtakings carried out by the Dutchman, we cannot fail to mention the one in Spa against Felipe Nasr's Sauber, which earned him the prize of Action of the Year.

Strengthened by the supremacy shown on the track, which allowed it to almost always start from the front, as demonstrated by the 18 seasonal poles, Mercedes was the team that suffered the fewest overtakings: six in total, divided equally between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Sebastian Vettel, on the other hand, holds the record for the number of overtakings made in a single race: 13 in the Canadian Grand Prix.
