F1 | Perez on the separation with Racing Point: "It's like being with a wife you know you'll get divorced from"
“There has been some progress here and there, but I don't have anything to report yet,” the Mexican said
At the end of the last Eifel Grand Prix, the 11th round of this 2020 Formula 1 world championship, Sergio Perez analyzed the period he is experiencing within Racing Point, underlining how the situation is similar to that of a separated couple who lives under the same roof.
Despite the team's great commitment towards him and the awareness of wanting to close this career parenthesis in the best possible way, both parties know that the working relationship will not continue in 2021, an aspect that creates strange sensations.
On the driver market, however, "Checo" preferred the path of caution, specifying that at the moment, talks aside, there is nothing concrete or official for the 2021 season.
“It's really strange,” declared the Mexican from Racing Point. “It's like being with a wife who you know you're going to divorce in two months, but it's just part of the game. I come here, I do my job on and off the track, I have to make sure I give 100%. This team has been great to me. We have been together for seven years. I have a lot of friends here, and I just want to finish my adventure with them on a high note and make sure they remember our past with pride."
On the market he added: “As far as I'm concerned, there have been some talks with the teams who have not confirmed the lineups for next year. There has been some progress here and there, but I have nothing to report yet, I haven't signed anything. I guess in the next month or so I'll decide whether I'll be here or somewhere else.”
