F1 | Perez on Halo: “We'll get used to it after two or three races”

The pilot of the Force India he is confident that it will take Formula 1 drivers little time to get used to the new safety device.

Around Halo a debate was created that still holds sway, but the FIA has decided that it will be mandatory. Aesthetics aside, many teams are concerned about the impact the device will have on aerodynamics.

Perez also fears that this could damage the style of the single-seaters but on the other hand he agrees that we must commit ourselves to the safety of the drivers:

“Inevitably Halo hurts us a lot in terms of aerodynamics but it's the same for everyone. It's a protection system, after two or three races we'll get used to it. In Formula 1 everything changes quickly. I hope that next year we will see a championship where the teams will be closer to each other and I am sure that we will no longer talk about Halo. It was a right and very courageous decision by the FIA, we are pushing a lot on safety and I think we are proving that we are a new generation of drivers who are committed to safety not only in Formula 1 but also in other categories. If we had already had Halo ten years ago, we could have saved lives. Other sports would be proud of it and even if I don't like it aesthetically, it's worth it.".
