F1 | Perez does not rule out the sabbatical option for 2021

Sergio Perez continues to be one of the popular names when it comes to the 2021 driver market. In fact, the Mexican, dropped by Racing Point to make room for Sebastian Vettel from next year, could end up in the sights of Red Bull - if Milton Keynes gives the nod to Alexander Alonso – but at the same time Czech he does not discount the solution of taking a year off and then running for a seat in 2022.

"Now it's late, I will only know if I will continue in Formula One at the end of the year and therefore a sabbatical is an option – declared Perez in the Thursday press conference in Istanbul, where the Turkish Grand Prix weekend will start tomorrow – We'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks".

Not only the future but also the present. The current standard bearer of the Silverstone team spoke about the current season, also underlining the opportunities wasted by the team to obtain prominent placings. A 2020 that Perez will also remember for several missed opportunities.

"I think it was a year of missed opportunities – admitted the Mexican – We missed out on a podium in Austria, where we were already third, and at that moment we made the wrong call. Same thing in Imola, we lost two podiums. We have had a season of ups and downs. Due to the virus I missed two races and I think the car was at its strongest point on our best track, Silverstone, where our car was competitive. It's been a bit of an unfortunate year, but I still feel like things will change and we can make this a great season".
