F1 | Perez: “Force India must give up team orders”

The Mexican driver declared that the Indian team should allow its drivers to compete on the track to regain confidence.

After the contact during the grand prix of Belgium between Esteban Ocon e Sergio Perez, Force India imposed orders to prevent the two from fighting each other again. However, team officials had said that once they took fourth place in the championship, things could change.

Now, according to Perez, that moment has arrived as there are only a few races left before the end of the championship:

“They told us that they would let us race – declared the Mexican – and I think it is important for both me and Esteban to trust each other and show that we can have good races”.

The team's operations director, Otmar Szafnauer, had confirmed that a decision would be made before the race Interlagos and that the reason for the team orders did not just concern the ranking:

“We still have a couple of weeks before deciding. For the fans it is nicer to see our drivers racing but at the same time, the car parts are not cheap. If there is contact, there is the risk of having to buy more material for the last race. There will be a test immediately after Abu Dhabi and therefore certain considerations must be made".
