F1 | Perez 3rd at Paul Ricard: “Excellent strategy from the team”
"Happy to have obtained so many points for the team," said Checo
After the victory obtained in Baku, Sergio Perez also had an excellent race at Paul Ricard. In fact, the Mexican conquered the lowest step of the podium, thanks to an optimal strategy that saw him delay the pit stop compared to the competition, thus concluding in the best possible way a great Sunday for Milton Keynes thanks to the success achieved by Max Verstappen.
"For the first five/ten laps the car was undriveable with all the wind there was. It was difficult to keep up with the pace of those in front of me – Perez admitted – When the wind calmed down, the track improved, and then I started to pick up the pace and we went long in the first stint which paid off a lot towards the end. Today there was more degradation than expected, but we managed to have a great race with an excellent strategy from the team and we are happy to have won and obtained many points for the team".
