F1 | Palmer: “I don't care what Alonso thinks”
"I was in front before reaching the corner, he braked very late and forced me to go off the track"
The English driver declared that he was not particularly interested in the Spaniard's complaints following the episode in which they were involved during the race, since, according to him, he was the driver of the McLaren to throw him off the track.
Fernando Alonso he was furious during the grand prix because Jolyon Palmer he did not give him back the position after the Englishman went off the track while the two were fighting under braking. He also said he was saddened by the five-place penalty that the stewards gave to the Renault driver, claiming that the stewards, “they were drinking a Heineken instead of following the race”.
But Palmer defends himself:
“I was in front before reaching the corner, he braked very late and forced me to go off the track -said the Englishman to SkySports- I'm sure we'll talk about it again at the next race because Fernando isn't very happy but I don't care about it.".
The Englishman had to retire from the race but does not agree with the penalty as the pit stop made him lose precious time to try to fight for the points zone:
“The pace we had was good, we were faster than everyone in the group and it's a shame that on the second outing with the super softs, I wasn't able to catch up and overtake some riders”.
