F1 | Palmer: “Error due to poor grip on the track”

The dark moment continues for Jolyon Palmer aboard the RS17. The Englishman, in the balance as regards keeping his seat for the continuation of this season, made a very bad mistake during free practice 2 on the Baku track, ending up on the wall in the most complex point of the track (precisely in the area of the Castle.ed.). This caused the team to lose valuable time throughout the afternoon, forcing Nico Hulkenberg to collect double the data on both the super soft and soft tyres.

Here are the words of Nico Hulkenberg: “A fairly standard Friday if we consider that we weren't able to get the most out of the soft tyres. The track was quite slippery in FP1, but the situation improved slightly in the afternoon, allowing us to work even with the harder compounds. We have made some progress, especially with an empty tank, but we are far from where we should be and it will be important to improve in tomorrow's FP3. We will try to focus our attention on the weak points."

Here are Jolyon Palmer's impressions: “It was quite a slippery Friday and we struggled a lot with grip. In FP2 it went quite a bit better, but we still need to improve on some areas of the car because we are not satisfied. Unfortunately in the afternoon we had a small accident due to the lack of grip on the track which made us lose precious time. We will try to do our best in tomorrow's FP3 to be in top form in qualifying."
