F1 | Palmer (CEO Aston Martin): “Only in 2019 will we evaluate a possible entry into the Circus”
The British company is aiming to enter F1 from 2021, when new rules on power units come into force
di Piero LadisaJanuary 16, 2018
Aston Martin, Red Bull title sponsor, will only evaluate in a year's time the hypothetical entry into the world of Formula One starting from 2021. The latter is a very important year for the Circus, as new regulations on power units will come into force.
At the moment, Aston Martin's entry into the top class is being held back by the prohibitive costs of the engines, as the CEO of the British company Andy Palmer stated: “Large cost and complexity also arise from the MGU-H (component that will be eliminated from 2021, ed.). On average there are 80-100 people working on the turbocharger. The current level of costs is crazy and is beyond our reach. Our decision will come in 2019".
