F1 | French GP report cards – Hamilton indecent dominator, Norris and Raikkonen stand out
Great performance also from Sainz. Vettel races alone, Gasly badly
Lewis Hamilton 10 cum laude The sixth victory in eight races, the seventy-ninth of his career, is a de facto Grand Chelem, an unparalleled test of strength. Luigi races alone, takes twenty seconds off Bottas, who is no longer a challenger, and shapes a world championship to his liking that will never be questioned. He writes records by setting fast laps on finished tyres. He is simply a living legend. SHAMELESS
Valtteri Bottas 6,5 It really couldn't be more scaled down. Emptied by the inspiration and momentum of the first GPs, with all the weight on the shoulders of a de facto, probably unbeatable teammate. SWEPT UP
Charles Leclerc 8,5 Third podium of the season and second in a row, in search of consistency that matches the flamboyant talent often on display. It's a weekend as an adult, as a mature and consistent driver, with the satisfaction of beating his much more experienced and successful teammate. GROWS
Max Verstappen 7,5 The usual feeling that he puts a lot of his own into a circuit where his Red Bull is a far cry from the high-performance single-seater admired in Spain or Monte Carlo. A good fourth place. SOLID
Sebastian Vettel 6,5 Every now and then, especially on the more driven circuits, this lack of feedback becomes forcefully felt again with the SF90. Seba can't find the key to the problem, he suffers greatly in qualifying, he makes a difference in the race without making any mistakes but actually racing in a desolate land. BORED
Carlos Sainz 8 Of a consistency that borders on perfection. GRANITE
Kimi Raikkonen 8,5 He is an old man who enchants, exalting the potential - fair but not exceptional - of his Alfa Romeo. He started twelfth, finished eighth (then seventh), fighting on equal terms with better performing cars such as Renault and McLaren. IRREDUCIBLE
Nico Hulkenberg 7 Less spectacular, but also less messy, than Ricciardo. And in the end he is right.
Lando Norris 9 He has a “race”, combined with pure speed, which is impressive. He's exuberant, he thrives in duels, he even struggles with hydraulic problems in the last twenty laps but he doesn't give up an inch. Terrible little boy. THE NEW THAT ADVANCES
Pierre Gasly 5 He inherits a small point thanks to Ricciardo's penalty. It does not work.
Daniel Ricciardo 7 Voto drives spectacularly and aggressively, thanks to him we will remember the last lap of Paul Ricard. But he exaggerates, getting a little carried away with the limits of the track… IT'S GETTING LARGER
Sergio Perez 6 Innocent victim after the first lap of a (another?) rather questionable penalty. He goes off the track, re-enters following the designated path back onto the track, it didn't make any sense to ruin his race.
Daniel Kvyat 6,5 Positive test considering that it starts from the fund for replacement of components of the Honda power unit. Starting further up the line he would have fought for points.
Alex Albon 5,5 Unlike his team mate he suffers a bit with the tires and doesn't find the right rhythm.
Antonio Giovinazzi 5,5 Spectacular qualifying, but in the race the collapse is unexpected and vertical. We need to find continuity over the weekend.
Robert Kubica 6 Russel is faster but Robert shows his muscles and defends himself resolutely; in the end - also thanks to a small damage to the front of the other Williams - he manages to get in front of the Englishman.
Others: Romain Grosjean (4,5); Kevin Magnussen (5); Lance stroll (5); George russel (5,5)
French GP 5 A little train with psychedelic stretches of track and identical curves, broken only by the battle between Ricciardo, Raikkonen and Norris on the last lap. Bad show. BORING
