McLaren driver Lando Norris will start Sunday with a three-place grid penalty for overtaking Pierre Gasly's Alpha Tauri with the yellow flag displayed after Nicolas Latifi's Williams stopped at turn 5, during the first round of free practice.
“The stewards summoned the driver of car number 4 (Lando Norris) and the team representative and examined the video evidence. On-board footage clearly shows that the driver overtook car 10 (Pierre Gasly) while the yellow light panels were clearly visible and yellow flags were shown,” reads the FIA statement.
Norris also received two penalty points on his licence.
