F1 | Norris: “Every fight with the big guys increases my confidence”

McLaren driver Lando Norris achieved four podiums in 2021. His best result was second place in the Monza Grand Prix, while also finding himself battling with top teams. Interviewed by RacingNews365.com, the Englishman admitted that he still has a lot of work to do in battles with the top drivers.

“Generally the guys who drive the best cars will also be the most experienced or best drivers. So there's a little bit more pressure, because you know they're going to think of every possible plan or strategy on how to outdo you and so on. That's the one thing, you know they're going to think of every single thing possible to attack you, race you and pass you.".

The 22-year-old believes that finding himself in a tussle with Hamilton and Verstappen is all experience for the future:

“The only thing that really gives you confidence is that if you're there a lot or have a better car, then there's no reason why they should be able to beat you if you're in the same car. Every time I race against Hamilton, Bottas, Verstappen and Perez I think that's the one thing that really gives you more confidence. Because you know if if you find yourself in that position multiple times, then next year or two years from now, you feel ready to race against them all the time and you're ready to beat them.".
