F1 | Verstappen, leadership goal: “I want to maintain the position even after Austin”

Max Verstappen looking for confirmation in the next United States Grand Prix, the 17th round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. The Dutchman from Red Bull, after the second place obtained in Turkey, wants to once again place himself in the top positions of the standings at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, so as to leave the States and show up in Mexico in two weeks, still at the top of the drivers' world championship.

“It will be nice to go back to racing in the United States,” said the Dutchman from Red Bull. “We have always been competitive at the Circuit of the Americas, coming close to excellent results, which is why we will have to convert these good experiences into a victory. From now on we go to every track aware that we can challenge for the victory and it is a different condition than in the past. We are focused on doing our best and will try to achieve success starting from Sunday. We have another battle ahead of us and I can't wait."

“We must concentrate on maximizing performance because we have a very competitive car, but we have a strong and formidable opponent like Mercedes in front of us,” he continued. “We hope to confirm ourselves in the top areas of the classification and obtain a good result, so as to leave Austin with the top of the general classification”.

Finally on the layout of the Circuit of the Americas: “It's really beautiful, with an uneven asphalt that adds emotion to the race. The first sector is very fun, with many fast corners, especially in qualifying and with little fuel. In the second and third sectors you can make different trajectories and this generates action and overtaking. Plus there's always a great atmosphere and a great crowd."
