Through the team's official social channels, Cyril Abiteboul commented on the release of the technical regulations that will concern the 2021 season, underlining how Renault is extremely satisfied with the work carried out by the FIA ​​and Liberty Media over the last two years.

Thanks to the introduction of a new type of car and the entry into the field of the budget cap, in fact, the French team will have a great opportunity to restart after the difficulties of these seasons, an aspect that will almost certainly divert all the team's attention to 2021 .

“The approval of the 2021 financial, technical and sporting regulations by the FIA ​​World Motorsport Council marks the conclusion of a very comprehensive work by Formula 1, the FIA ​​and the teams,” said Cyril Abiteboul. “They also confirm a more stable vision on the part of the new ownership of Formula 1. The objective is to make this sport already fair, fun and sustainable, without betraying the DNA that made us love this category.”

On Renault's point of view he added: “Despite some compromises made to minimize the diversity of models created by the current agreement, these measures represent significant opportunities for a team like ours, as they increase the prospects for closing the gap to the top teams in a reasonable time.”

“We will continue to work together to finalize these regulations, but the fact that the fundamentals are now secured will allow us to plan the required developments between now and the first race of 2021,” he concluded.
