F1 | No private test for Vettel, Szafnauer: “We will do everything possible to integrate him into the team”
"We will make the best use of the three days of testing to prepare him for the first race," said the Aston Martin TP
From January 1st, a new professional path in Formula One has begun for Aston Martin, which will replace Racing Point on the grid, and for Sebastian Vettel. The four-time world champion, who after six seasons said goodbye to Ferrari to arrive across the Channel where he took the seat of Sergio Perez, will have to wait a few more months to be able to get behind the wheel of his new car.
In fact, the British team, as will happen for McLaren with Ricciardo, will not have the possibility of having their new standard-bearer run in a private test session as they do not have old single-seaters.
"We also don't have the chance to drive a car from two years ago – declared team principal Otmar Szafnauer, quoted by Formula1.com – So we will do everything we can with Seb to integrate him into the team, we will also do a lot of work in the simulator and then we will use the three days of testing we have available to the best of our ability to prepare him for the first race".
