Among the innovations that will characterize the 2021 Formula One World Championship there will also be the presence of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The agreement between Liberty Media and the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) was made official a few minutes ago to have the Circus race through the streets of Jeddah, along the shores of the Red Sea, in a race that will be held at night. The remaining events that will make up next year's world championship calendar will be communicated in due time.

For Formula One it is certainly nothing new to race at night. In fact, there are already races in Bahrain, Singapore and Abu Dhabi taking place under the floodlights.

"We are thrilled to welcome Saudi Arabia to Formula 1 for the 2021 season. Saudi Arabia is a country that is fast becoming a hub for sport and entertainment with many major events taking place in recent years and we are very pleased that Formula 1 will race there from next season”, declared the current CEO of Formula One Chase Carey who will hand over the helm of the Circus to Stefano Domenicali from next year.

Carey then added: “The region is extremely important to us and with 70% of the Saudi population under 30, we are excited by the potential to reach new fans and bring our existing fans around the world exciting racing from an incredible and historic setting. We will publish our full provisional calendar for 2021 in the coming weeks and it will be submitted to the World Motor Sport Council for approval".
