For the first time in its history the Autodromo del Mugello will host a race valid for the FIA ​​Formula 1 World Championship™. In a season calendar revolutionized following the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus, the opportunity was created to bring the highest automotive competition to a cutting-edge racetrack in terms of safety and sustainability standards and on a track that is as fascinating as it is challenging for drivers and cars.

The official name of the event is a tribute to the land that will host this event and to the historic anniversary that Scuderia Ferrari - the only team present in all 70 editions of the top automotive competition held so far - will celebrate that day. The Autodromo del Mugello it is located just 35 kilometers from Florence, one of the cities richest in history and artistic masterpieces, appreciated by millions of visitors from all over the world.

Inaugurated in 1974 as a natural evolution of the Road Circuit created in 1914, the track is located on the hills of the municipality of Scarperia and San Piero a Sieve. For some time one of the most loved facilities by drivers as well as by the entire world of motorsport, theMugello racetrack It has been owned by Ferrari since 1988 and is among the few tracks that the FIA ​​(International Automobile Federation) has certified with the 3-Star Level qualification: the facility has in fact passed the environmental test defined by the Federation, thus obtaining recognition for the excellence of the sustainability policies adopted.

With the assignment of the ninth appointment of the season to Mugello, Italy thus returns to host two Formula 1™ Grands Prix for the first time since 2006. That year, both the traditional Italian Grand Prix in Monza and the last edition of the Grand Prix held so far were on the calendar. of San Marino, which was held at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola: both races were won by Michael Schumacher, in his last season as a Scuderia Ferrari driver.
