F1 | Monza and Silverstone at risk after 2019

Sticchi Damiani: "Our losses amount to 11-12 million euros"

F1 | Monza and Silverstone at risk after 2019

There still remains a question mark on the future of the Italian Grand Prix, as confirmed by the president ACI, Angelo Sticchi Damiani.

“We wanted to inform the officials that we are not able to do the grand prix according to the terms of the contract”, Told "The Gazette of Sports".

“The revenue from ticket sales does not cover the cost of organizing, and already our losses amount to 11-12 million euros. We will respect the conditions of the current contract, but if we do not agree with Liberty Media, after 2019 we will not be able to be on the calendar.".

Besides Monza, also Silverstone could be removed from the calendar:

“In Formula One, you have to understand that, according to the rules of the European Union, we are not allowed to receive government subsidies. I spoke with the organizers of Silverstone and they are still determined: the next grand prix at Silverstone will be the last".
