F1 | Minardi on the reduced tread that will be brought to France: "Pirelli should give us some explanations"
"The predictions on strategies and the duration of the compounds are consistently disregarded," he added
According to Giancarlo Minardi, Pirelli should give some explanations regarding the tires presented during this season and why, during each race weekend, it is not possible to have a clear idea on the strategies. Despite the inclusion of the hyper soft compounds with the relative lowering of the range, in fact, the performance between the various tires is too homogeneous, with the top drivers often managing to reach Q3 with the hardest tires in the range . This creates a leveling of performance which is certainly to the detriment of the show.
Here are Giancarlo Minardi's impressions: “Pirelli should give us some explanation since the predictions on the strategies and duration of the compounds are regularly disregarded. Despite the inclusion of the two new compounds Hypersoft and Ultra-Hard which have increased the range of slick tires to seven, in the last few grands prix there has been no difference in performance between one compound and the other. There is too much homogeneity which levels performances to the detriment of the spectacle."
As regards Ricard, however, Minardi believes it is a crucial event for the continuation of the season. Considering the very abrasive asphalt and the presence of wide-ranging curves, Pirelli will be called to an extremely important weekend, with the compounds that will be carefully analyzed over the course of the various days.
“The Paul Ricard will be a crucial event in this respect considering the very abrasive asphalt, the presence of some wide-radius curves and the compounds chosen by the Milanese manufacturer. Otherwise it becomes useless to have all this choice which only turns into an excessive cost without a technical return”, concluded the manager from Faenza.
