F1 | Mercedes, Wolff fears competition: “We also take McLaren and Renault seriously”

Toto wolff keeps Mercedes on edge and predicts a treacherous World Championship, seasoned with fierce competition ready to break the four-year hegemony imposed by the Brackley team: “This is the pinnacle of motor racing and you have to respect every team and the best drivers” – said the Mercedes team principal a Motorsport.com. "We are taking Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren, Renault seriously: All these teams can fight for the championship and others could surprise us. I want to stay humble, I expect competition from all these teams: if we are able to align the points like we have done in the last year, then we will win races and fight for championships; if we don't do it, it will mean that we won't have been good enough.".

The Austrian manager does not forget the supremacy of the beginning of 2017 Ferrari which caught the Star off guard and forced it into a frantic comeback: “The way their car performed on the track was exceptional and the pace they had over the winter was probably the best of all the teams. However, we recorded a record of eleven race victories against Ferrari's five and the clock never lies. Having said that, we must keep our feet on the ground: Ferrari could have won more races, we are taking it very seriously as a real contender, just as we do with the other teams.".
