F1 | Mercedes, Wolff on Ferrari-Sauber strategy: “Marchionne and Arrivabene are intelligent men”

Emulating Ferrari with Sauber, Mercedes also wants to create a sort of satellite team in Formula One. In this regard, Toto Wolff, Stella's team principal, quoted by the Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat, declared: "I think Sergio Marchionne and Maurizio Arrivabene are intelligent men. The partnership with Haas already offers technical advantages to Ferrari, but what is happening with Sauber is even more visionary".

"Such an alliance can be a threat to us, so we must think of something similare”, commented Wolff.

"It's not an easy thing to do when you don't want to interfere with your team's strategies, but we have to keep our eyes and ears open because we are always looking for clever plans”, concluded the Mercedes team principal.

According to Turun Sanomat, Mercedes could rely on Force India and Williams, customer teams of the Brackley team, to try to create their own "branches".
